Primagraphy®
It is a fusion of the giclee technique, which emerged as a printmaking technique in the United States, and the color adjustment technology that TOPPAN has cultivated in plate making and printing. Giclee is a French word meaning "to spray or atomize," and has become established as a new technique in the world of fine art printmaking, alongside silkscreen printing and lithography.
Hanging scroll
What is a Kakejiku?
Hanging scrolls were introduced from China during the Heian period as a way to worship Buddhist paintings, and are a traditional art appreciation culture that has matured and been refined uniquely in Japan through the development of the tea ceremony, etc. Paintings made into hanging scrolls are elevated to elegant works of art that embody the image of Japanese "wa" (harmony), symbolized by wabi-sabi.
About the creation of hanging scrolls
All work required to complete a hanging scroll is carried out by hand by craftsmen who have nationally certified first-class mounting techniques, and they create the scrolls with great care.
The appeal of hanging scrolls
Hanging scrolls have been made with the intention of preserving and passing on the beautiful calligraphy and paintings that one owns to future generations as beautifully as possible, and the techniques for making them have been passed down and developed for about 1,500 years. If used with care, works are made to be enjoyed for generations to come, not for 5 or 10 years, but for hundreds of years.
Folding fan
Since ancient times, fans have been popular in Japan as an elegant way to cool down.
These fans are handmade using traditional methods, with artisans carefully inserting each rib between the paper.
Combining functionality and beauty, folding fans are not only a way to cool down but can also be enjoyed as a symbol of Japanese culture.
