Satoshi Iriyama
Born in Tokyo, where she lives. After working as a character designer and greeting card illustrator, she made her picture book debut in April 2003 with "Piyo-chan's Hide and Seek" and "Where is Piyo-chan's Mom?" from the "Parent and Child Pop-Up Picture Book" series. Since then, she has published many "Piyo-chan Picture Book" series, including "Piyo-chan's Friends" and "Piyo-chan and Sunflowers". She has picture books for a wide range of ages, from newborns to elementary school students. Her representative works include the "Piyo-chan Picture Book" series, such as "Piyo-chan and Sunflowers" and "Who's Fluffy?"; the "Dinosaur Kids Feelings Picture Book" series (Gakken), such as "Be Brave, Ptera" and "Rano, the Angry Boy Who Doesn't Want to Get Angry"; the "Panda Exercise" series (Kodansha), such as "Panda Friend Exercise" and "Panda Pretend Exercise", and many others. She is also active in direct sales of childcare picture books. Her soft, gentle pastel-toned illustrations are popular among parents who say they are soothed when they see them. Her books are gaining fans overseas and are being translated and published around the world. In 2023, she will celebrate her 20th year as a picture book author, and she is more and more enthusiastic about her creative endeavors.
